Camera & Sensor Compatibility — Technical Specification Reference

Purpose & Scope

This page defines the camera and sensor compatibility framework applicable to explosion-proof camera systems maintained and referenced by Explosion Proof Camera (ExPC).

Compatibility governs which imaging devices, sensors, and optical components may be integrated within certified explosion-proof camera enclosures without exceeding approved technical, mechanical, or certification limits.

All compatibility references apply exclusively to documented, certified configurations and do not imply universal interoperability.

Governing Compatibility Principles

Camera and sensor compatibility within ExPC systems is governed by:

  • Certified enclosure dimensions

  • Mechanical mounting interfaces

  • Thermal dissipation limits

  • Power and signal constraints

  • Optical alignment and field-of-view requirements

Compatibility is deterministic, not adaptive.

Only configurations explicitly documented within the product’s technical scope are considered valid.

Camera Module Compatibility

Fixed Cameras

Fixed camera modules are compatible where:

  • Physical dimensions fall within enclosure limits

  • Power consumption remains within certified thresholds

  • Optical alignment meets documented field-of-view constraints

Resolution, codec, and network protocol do not override mechanical or thermal constraints.

PTZ Cameras

Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) compatibility is governed by:

  • Internal clearance and movement envelope

  • Mechanical load limits

  • Motor power and heat generation

  • Cable routing and strain management

PTZ functionality must remain fully contained within certified enclosure boundaries under all operating conditions.

Sensor Compatibility

Optical Sensors

Optical sensor compatibility is determined by:

  • Sensor size and mounting geometry

  • Heat generation profile

  • Lens interface compatibility

Sensor upgrades or substitutions are not permitted unless explicitly documented.

Lens & Optical Interface Constraints

Lens compatibility is governed by:

  • Physical length and diameter

  • Optical window alignment

  • Field-of-view constraints

  • Focus and zoom clearance

Lens selection does not modify enclosure certification scope.

Compatibility Boundaries

Compatibility does not extend to:

  • Arbitrary third-party camera modules

  • Field-modified enclosures

  • Uncertified adapters or spacers

  • Custom wiring beyond documented configurations

Any deviation invalidates compatibility assumptions and may compromise certification.

Certification Relationship

Camera and sensor compatibility operates within certification scope.

Compatibility does not:

  • Expand hazardous area approval

  • Modify temperature class

  • Alter ingress or impact ratings

  • Replace certification documentation

Certification scope remains the governing authority.

Relationship to Other Specification References

Each reference category is maintained independently to preserve clarity, auditability, and traceability.

Authority Statement

Explosion Proof Camera (ExPC) maintains and verifies all documented camera and sensor compatibility references as part of its technical authority and information governance framework.

All compatibility information reflects current, active product configurations and is reviewed to ensure alignment with applicable hazardous area standards and certification constraints.
